skerminkel...
I acquired this beautifull pendant at the NEIGHBOURHOOD GOODS MARKET http://www.neighbourgoodsmarket.co.za/ a few Sundays ago... I just could not resist it! It is from SKERMINKEL (I have tried to get their webaddress - but alas... I will have to go and check the packaging at home, as I know they do have a contact on there.)
The key has been pierced out of a fish knife, and the two hearts have been enameled - I just LOVE it!

rabbits in plan view...

I will get Alta to take a photo of the final block - I must say it looks very cool - Alta's sewing skills are great! I have source three cute buttons from my mom's great collection, to give a bit of history, and these have been used as little tails!

papierkuns
I really love it, it keeps on changing during the day... Day time it has a beautifull blue backdrop and at night it is striking with the black background...

fluff fluff fluff
Well I cannot actually believe that the opening is done and dusted. It all feels like a dream... But we are all very happy! We had a terrific turn-out - one could almost not move in the gallery space, which might not be too comfortable, but really great for us! And I have to thank everyone, including Mary who came from Port Elizabeth for the opening (and a bit of Cape Town shopping), everyone who got baby sitters, everyone from Cape Town, and everyone that made the effort in coming! We love you all!!!! ; ) So now here are a couple of pics:

As murphy has it, NO ONE took photographs on the actual evening with the lights and action (somehow no camera), so these pics were taken whilst setting up. So if I get hold of any others I will post them again.

just another day...

Well I am doing a lot better! The exam is also over and done with.... and TOMORROW will be just another day... that we open our FLUFF exhibition! http://fluffexhibition.blogspot.com/ So still a lot of work ahead before Friday 19h00... but I am sure the time will FLYYYYYY..... So wish us good luck, as I really think we need it (well speaking for myself at least!) and then on Monday I will post some amazingly stunning photos, of course! How's that for positive thinking!!!
And please note anyone in the area, or who is keen for a bit of an outing is welcome! The map with directions is on the fluffexhibition spot above.

sad & shocking news...
I have just heard that Marianne von der Lippe has passed away. I am in shock! Marianne was my first introduction with ceramics. I started taking ceramic classes with her in 2002 at the John Muafengejo Art Centre in Katutura, Windhoek.
Marianne was on a Norwegian Exchange programme. She fell in love with Namibia and moved there permanently, still working with an Norwegian exchange programme. Lately she was training people in the south and north of Namibia with further crafts etc. Earlier this year I still helped Marianne and Ismael with plans for renovating there existing house. Marianne and Ismael were happy! Then Marianne and Ismael has a beautifull baby girl this year, Nangula. And then she passed away last night, totally unexpected, for no apparent reason, she was not sick, she was not unhealthy, she is 31 years old... I cannot tell you what a lost this is for ceramics, for Namibia, for friends, for family... She is an amazing person and truly truly loved... (photo taken in 2003 at Tulipamwe workshop)

more than a glass and a half!

Needless to say I am much more excited about the exhibition than the exam! So lots of last minute studying and creating to do. I will keep you updated on the exhibition (as the exam will be much less visually enticing) and put a visual report on the exhibition up after the opening. So wish me well!!!

use your imagination...
I am currently attending a cement sculpture class at the Stellenbosch Art Association. Must say it's a lot more difficult than what I imagined... So If you can't see, I am making a white rabbit (surprise surprise! ) So what you see is worth two classes, and at the moment the head is non-existing.... so next week the chicken mesh and the head goes on and then it is time to cement! Will keep you posted!!
