Well I am off on leave! So I will possibly make postings over the holidays - but can't promise anything as I don't have email access at home. So otherwise I will be back on 7th January 2008! Happy HOLIDAYS!!!!

skerminkel...

I acquired this beautifull pendant at the NEIGHBOURHOOD GOODS MARKET http://www.neighbourgoodsmarket.co.za/ a few Sundays ago... I just could not resist it! It is from SKERMINKEL (I have tried to get their webaddress - but alas... I will have to go and check the packaging at home, as I know they do have a contact on there.)

The key has been pierced out of a fish knife, and the two hearts have been enameled - I just LOVE it!

creative quilt

This is the amazing quilt Alta made me for my 30th birthday - needless to say I was SPEECHLESS when I received it. The photos are not all that professional but I think you get the general feel. The embroidered blocks are all things that I have done or enjoyed in my life to date - so it really has so much emotional value. So I am hoping for another one for my 60th! (Take note Alta!)

My FAMILY TREE! = )
We started a bridge club...
My first attempts at making bunnies come out looking like dogs - but they were everyone's favourites!
My first (and only) house I bought...
My scuba diving holiday to the red sea - which was FANTASTIC!
Me and cycling, which I really enjoy (but don't do too often anymore)...

final product

This is what my drawing ended up as - after Alta got hold of it with her fabulous stitching! Will post the quilt Alta made me for my 30th! Really stunning!!!

positive +/- negative

I purchased this pair of bunny earrings from http://www.boezaartbauermeister.com/ in Stellenbosch, over the weekend! Really really cool, and I must say I really think there work is gorgeous. I first spotted there work at KULTIVARIA, in Paart earlier this year with a filigree handbag - very elegant & sophisticated! And I was VERY impressed with the packaging - one feels totally spoilt & special!

rabbits in plan view...

Somehow I like this image that I've created from my ceramic rabbits - ok well traced from a photograph which I took of my rabbits! = ) OK, but I still like it! I have given a copy to Alta, to use as my block in a baby quilt she is making for her sister, but shhhh it's still a secret - but I think the secret is safe on my blog as she has NO time for internet with her new found bundle of joy! So the title of this pic is rabbits in plan view - thought it was quite appropriate as I designed their house for them! = )

I will get Alta to take a photo of the final block - I must say it looks very cool - Alta's sewing skills are great! I have source three cute buttons from my mom's great collection, to give a bit of history, and these have been used as little tails!

papierkuns

I bought this beautifull heart with bird cut-out at the KAMERS VOL GESKENKE. It is made by Papierkuns - unfortunately I don't have any contact details.
I really love it, it keeps on changing during the day... Day time it has a beautifull blue backdrop and at night it is striking with the black background...

fluff fluff fluff

Well I cannot actually believe that the opening is done and dusted. It all feels like a dream... But we are all very happy! We had a terrific turn-out - one could almost not move in the gallery space, which might not be too comfortable, but really great for us! And I have to thank everyone, including Mary who came from Port Elizabeth for the opening (and a bit of Cape Town shopping), everyone who got baby sitters, everyone from Cape Town, and everyone that made the effort in coming! We love you all!!!! ; ) So now here are a couple of pics:

As murphy has it, NO ONE took photographs on the actual evening with the lights and action (somehow no camera), so these pics were taken whilst setting up. So if I get hold of any others I will post them again.
