Well I am doing a lot better! The exam is also over and done with.... and TOMORROW will be just another day... that we open our FLUFF exhibition! http://fluffexhibition.blogspot.com/ So still a lot of work ahead before Friday 19h00... but I am sure the time will FLYYYYYY..... So wish us good luck, as I really think we need it (well speaking for myself at least!) and then on Monday I will post some amazingly stunning photos, of course! How's that for positive thinking!!!

And please note anyone in the area, or who is keen for a bit of an outing is welcome! The map with directions is on the fluffexhibition spot above.

sad & shocking news...

I have just heard that Marianne von der Lippe has passed away. I am in shock! Marianne was my first introduction with ceramics. I started taking ceramic classes with her in 2002 at the John Muafengejo Art Centre in Katutura, Windhoek.

Marianne was on a Norwegian Exchange programme. She fell in love with Namibia and moved there permanently, still working with an Norwegian exchange programme. Lately she was training people in the south and north of Namibia with further crafts etc. Earlier this year I still helped Marianne and Ismael with plans for renovating there existing house. Marianne and Ismael were happy! Then Marianne and Ismael has a beautifull baby girl this year, Nangula. And then she passed away last night, totally unexpected, for no apparent reason, she was not sick, she was not unhealthy, she is 31 years old... I cannot tell you what a lost this is for ceramics, for Namibia, for friends, for family... She is an amazing person and truly truly loved... (photo taken in 2003 at Tulipamwe workshop)

more than a glass and a half!

At the moment I'm running around like a headless chicken - and think I need more than a glass and a half of wine to still my nerves! I am writing an arbitration exam on Monday and then the Fluff exhibition is opening on Friday, 30 November! http://fluffexhibition.blogspot.com/

Needless to say I am much more excited about the exhibition than the exam! So lots of last minute studying and creating to do. I will keep you updated on the exhibition (as the exam will be much less visually enticing) and put a visual report on the exhibition up after the opening. So wish me well!!!

use your imagination...

I am currently attending a cement sculpture class at the Stellenbosch Art Association. Must say it's a lot more difficult than what I imagined... So If you can't see, I am making a white rabbit (surprise surprise! ) So what you see is worth two classes, and at the moment the head is non-existing.... so next week the chicken mesh and the head goes on and then it is time to cement! Will keep you posted!!

bunnies...bunnies...bunnies...

Tah dah! Well my bronze bunnies are making their debut on the internet. And architecturally I will start with a plan view...

I had a funny feeling that they would not be as photogenic as my ceramic bunnies - but I think I might have been mistaken... They just need good lighting! = )

So I still need to elevate them onto a stand to give them some status! But that will happen in the next couple of weeks - and then they are ready to go for the exhibition! Must say I am a teeny bit nervous!

klippies with class...

I am going to extend the suspence of my final bunny product 'till tomorrow (real reson being that I forgot to take some photographs...) Anycase so here is something really smart! I must say that I am not a fan of brandy and coke, but I am a fan of Klipdrift's advertising and recently I was really impressed with their distillery in Robertson. I think the buildings, interiors and landscaping is really super and worth visiting. I even had a "klippies & coke" in a tin, allready mixed, when I visited the venue and in this lovely setting, it even tasted really nice!
I love the slatted timber bridge ! Almost has a japanese feel about it - quite zen... = )

The maps of the local area were used as wallpaper, which I thought was a great idea. Must say the place made a good impression on me, but I still have not converted to brandy and coke! = )

bunny tree...

Well this was my first leap into bronze casting... bunnies. This is the wax model that I made which was then invested and cast in stone, agh I mean bronze. = )
So here are some pics of my bronze bunny trees, which have subsequently been cut apart and will form part of my exhibition http://fluffexhibition.blogspot.com/. I am really enjoy this new medium, but very different from ceramics... So tomorrow I will post a sneak preview of the final product...

frank's frenchie

This is one of my reasonably new acquisitions. I bought it earlier in the year from artist Frank van Reenen http://www.frank.co.za/, after spotting it at a Studio Open Day. This French Bulldog was destined for an exhibition in Johannesburg - and not for sale prior to the exhibition. However I just fell in love with Frenchie, and eventually everything worked out for the best! So now Frenchie is hanging in my entrance hall and I look at him every day!

I think the presence of the money bunny was the deciding factor that I just had to HAVE this painting! = )

fluff & PIF

Well here is our invite for our FLUFF exhibition on 30 November 2007. I have mentioned it a few times in the past... and now the time seems to FLY! Alta has designed our invite, and the image above is the poster version. So if any of you are in the vacinity please pop-in! The blog site is also up and running - so check it out! http://fluffexhibition.blogspot.com/

Then the PIF - PAY IT FORWARD... I cannot believe I only have one taker.... does no well else want something nice and handmade? Only catch is you need to offer this to three other individuals - but you have a year to comply... so let me know if you are interested in getting onto my list - there are still two spots available!

kamers vol geskenke...

On Saterday I went to "Kamers vol geskenke" at Simondium near Paarl & Franschhoek - and what a setting! I must say the event organisers have gone to a lot of trouble to really make it look amazing! Here are a couple of photographs... Above is a pic of the stunning flower arrangements set on really beautifull old furniture. Below are some examples of the chandeliers which I just really really loved!
